Quito Day 300 15/07/2015

We woke to warm sunshine streaming through the patio windows. As we were planning to go back to Quito today at 1100 (hopefully we will be able to buy the tickets!) we had a leisurely breakfast on the balcony. We reflected on how quickly day 300 has arrived and going home is starting to become closer and closer; only 64 days to go. However we did think that it's still nearly 3 full annual holidays in timescale so it's not too bad. David gave us a lift into town, we successfully bought our tickets and jumped on the bus with the other passengers who were mainly westerners. By now the cloud had dropped and we didn't get the same extensive views we had on the journey here. We were soon back in northern Quito which was good noting Diane was feeling quite ropey with an upset stomach. The taxi back to our hotel (which we stayed in a few days ago) took over an hour due to traffic and in the end we got out and walked the last 1km. After collecting our bags and checking in, Diane decided to have an afternoon kip to hopefully aid recovery whilst Simon wrote the last few days blogs and researched more places to potentially visit in Colombia. Still feeling ropey Diane decided against dinner. Simon ate at the restaurant owned by the hotel, enjoying a pork chop but reflecting that this is the first time in our whole time away that one of us has eaten dinner on our own. Hopefully Diane will be much better tomorrow so we can tour around Quito on an open top bus.
