Luckily we escaped the attack of the possums in the night! We planned to walk to Mount Field East today and after breakfast packed up and drove the short distance to the visitors centre to register. The good thing about the van is that you have to keep everything tidy if you want to drive anywhere! The walk starts 9km up a dirt track which winds it's way up through the tall trees. The peak is a rocky outcrop on the eastern side of an elevated plateau. The walk works it's way up through the trees to where you can do a side walk up to Seagers Lookout, a boulder peak with good views back across lake Fenton. Back down on the main walk you continue across windy moor which probably should have been named boggy moor! The weather was a bit mixed with some cloud around but we did get good views if a bit grey at times. After lunch on the peak we walked down via Lake Nicholls and continued through dense forest. The tracks are all well marked and there is little option to deviate due to the vegetation. Back at the van we set off down the dirt track and just made it in time for tea and very nice cake at the visitors centre. At the campsite our neighbour had spent the day cleaning his caravan after an attack of the possums in the night. We hadn't heard anything!
