The weather certainly wasn't glorious when we woke but we decided it was good enough to attempt the circuit of Wineglass Bay and Hazards Beach so we packed up and headed back along the narrow peninsula to where the walks start from. The start of the walk takes you back up to the lookout and then descends towards the bay passing through granite boulders and coastal forest. As we walked down through the trees we could hear the surf pounding on the beach. We dropped on to the white sandy beach to see huge breakers with massive back spray, something we'd not seen before. You're suppose to have a dip in the sea here but neither the weather or sea made it very appealing. From here we walked across the thin neck passed Hazards Lagoon and over the sand dunes and the wallabies attempting to hide in them, to reach Hazards Beach, a wide and long beach. The walk takes you along the beach and then heads up in to the forest back to the car park. It was a relatively short walk (c3 hours) but good to get out and we managed to escape the rain. We had lunch in our van before setting off back to Hobart where we were staying for the night. The wind had picked up again and the van was buffeted as we drove along but luckily Simon managed to keep us on the road. A lot of Tasmania's vineyards are on this part of the island and we passed a number of them as we headed south and then west to cross over Tasman Bridge and north to the campsite for our last night in our van. The site was mainly cabins and holiday homes with only 3 spaces for mobile vans. Each space was allocated it's own shower and toilet which was a bit of a treat after two weeks sharing facilities. We finished off what was left of our food and drink supplies before settling down for the night. The plan for tomorrow was to walk up Mt Wellington which overlooks Hobart, Simon's choice for his birthday.
