Puerto Varas Day 206 12/04/2015

The weather forecast for today was for grey skies with rain in the afternoon. After a leisurely breakfast at Casa Kalfu we wandered into town and took in the 19th century German architecture, including Iglesia del Sagrado Corazon which is based on the Marienkirche of the Black Forest. We'd picked up a map in the local TurisTour office although it was all a bit vague as to which buildings were the national monuments but we enjoyed strolling around. On route we walked up Cerro Philippi, the hill to the west of the town, although the views where fairly limited and Volcan Osorno was still covered in cloud. Back in town we stopped for hot chocolate before heading back to Casa Kalfu where we spent the afternoon planning, reading and general chilling out. It's a nice place to wind away a few hours. Not long after we returned the rain started to fall and soon became a torrential downpour. We were very glad we'd decided to head back when we did. In the evening we walked along the front and went to an Italian restaurant for dinner (which bizarrely played Bavarian folk music). The forecast for tomorrow doesn't look much better so it might be another chill out day!
